Moving Boxes: 3 things to look for

Sure, any box can be a moving box, but are your boxes reliable? Believe it or not, having the right kind of box is going to be the difference between a smooth move and a hectic one. Not having the right box can result in boxes giving out and breaking your belongings. Not having the right box can also mean that you’re not packing everything you could inside of one box. That can actually increase your moving costs if you’re using a moving service that charges by the hour, by the day, or by the truckload. More boxes mean more time and more space, so you want to make sure you plan this out right.

The supermarket box

Many individuals call their local supermarket and ask them if they can put boxes aside for them because they are moving. What happens is the mover finds that there are more little boxes than big boxes when they pick them up. Another thing to consider is the fact that all of these boxes have been used to ship items before and have now been broken down. This means you have to tape them back together over top of the old tape that was cut through when the employees were breaking them down. This can actually interfere with how well the bottom of the box comes together when you are taping it back together.

Supermarket boxes also consist of cardboard durability that can vary. It can be somewhat hard to determine how much weight a box can actually hold and, with all of the small boxes, you’re risking having to make more trips while you move.

The moving box

Moving supply stores sell moving boxes that are meant just for moving. They are durable so that your belongings are protected and they come in the sizes you need. You do have the option to choose from new boxes or used boxes. Used boxes are going to be cheaper, of course. However, you have to ask yourself if you want boxes someone else has used before. If you don’t have a problem with that, then you can go for the used box.

Here are three things you want to look for in a moving box:

• The size: You may need different sizes for different things. If you have fragile items, you don’t want to stack too many of them on top of each other. However, books and other unbreakable items can be stacked until a comfortable weight is reached within the box.

• Weight: It is important that you evaluate the weight that the box is capable of holding. This is something a supermarket box won’t tell you. You are safer knowing the weight because you then know how much you can put inside the box.

• Type: There are different types of boxes such as dish boxes and wardrobe boxes. These boxes are specially designed to better protect your belongings. By moving items in boxes that are especially made for those items, you are reducing the chances of damage.

What to do?

It is up to you as to what boxes you want to use, but know that the moving box is going to give you the security you need when moving items. Sometimes it’s not worth taking the risk and hoping that a box won’t break. Sometimes hoping that a box that is destined to break won’t break isn’t going to do much good. But having a box that is designed for what you’re using it for and even comes with usage instructions to ensure the utmost safety of your items is worth the cost.

Install bins window can be a pleasure craft project and care must be taken to right! There are many media nowadays that hook to your window or railing and let you sit in the window box above. That is fine if your window box is small and you do not plan on filling with soil. However, if your window is larger than the case 30 or it will need to support more weight than fake flowers, it is imperative that you install your window boxes in a safe and secure manner in order not to pass in the fall or break. Window box decorative brackets can be added, but rarely used as a method to go to support a window box.

First, flower boxes must be installed so that they are robust and level. This is important not only so that it looks right, but it is flowing. This is another reason to avoid simplistic support systems that can bend and deform under the weight of a well-planted window box. The ideal method for installing windows to use the old proven bolt anchor shift method. By obtaining and installing a window box outside the house this way, you can make it level, solid, and above all safe. And as an added feature, it will certainly add value to the home by becoming an integral part of it. The best way to ensure a window of your home is at anchor in the back of the box and directly in the house. To do this you’ll need to drill a 3 / 4 “hole in the back of the window box approximately every 18″ window box length.

PVC windows are great for holding the paint and the paint will not fade or peel. They are an update on the wood that has issues of maintenance and vinyl, which can be painted and have a shiny appearance to them. For PVC windows, if you decide to paint, it is recommended to use a latex paint outdoors. Semi-gloss is best to reduce the absorption and Sunday Sherwin Williams even made a vinyl paint that works well with PVC to make more of the same. Remember to leave within a window box unpainted, whatever its material made from. You never want the painting to be in direct contact with the soil and water. Painting in direct contact with water, soil and roots, will kill the existing facilities and prevent future growth.

The placement of the holes should be centered vertically. Then, transfer the location of these holes by holding the window box of the window and put a pencil or marker through the holes… These will be your anchor points to support the box. Place a 5 / 8″ extensible lead anchor in each of the holes you drilled. The anchors must be able to receive 3 / 8 “lag bolts and work by the expansion of the bolts are tightened. Now, finally, hold the window box to save and transmit to shift each bolt with a washer through the rear window of the box and in the head anchor. Tighten each lag bolt down to finish and then, finally, use a level to adjust the window box if necessary. Viola! You have installed a box window.

With the rising concern about our fragile planet, more people are looking for ways to lead environmentally friendly lives. This includes implementing measures to save energy, recycle, and protect our natural resources. Recycling has become a method that everyone can put into practice. When moving to a new home or apartment, people can use recycled boxes to help protect the environment and save money.

There are many reasons why people choose to recycled boxes when moving, including:

• Using recycled boxes cuts down on waste because boxes are used more than once.

• It is environmentally friendly. Up to 65% less energy is required to make new paper from recycled paper than from virgin wood. (U.S. Department of Energy) Every ton of recycled paper saves approximately 17 trees and millions of gallons of water.

• Recycled boxes are the same quality and strength as new boxes.

• There are many economical advantages to using recycled boxes

• Box manufacturers have improved boxes and now make stronger boxes using less material.

• There is a growing demand for old corrugated containers which can economically benefit communities who recycle these containers.

Moving companies that provide recycled boxes choose their boxes from factory surplus boxes, boxes that contain a minor defect such as size, type, or misprint, boxes bought from homeowners who have recently moved, as well as used boxes purchased from other suppliers such as self storage companies and national moving companies.

It is very easy to obtain environmentally friendly packaging. You can use your own recycled newspapers or ask your friends to start saving their papers. For delicate items, you can use recycled paper and grocery bags which are heavier. There are biodegradable pellets that are made from recycled diapers or corn starch. Environmentally friendly packaging also includes recycled plastic wrap, recycled bubble wrap, recycled paper towel, and towels. There are now packing peanuts that are made from recycled material as well as bio degradable materials. Wood pallets are often used when moving or shipping items, however, there are now plastic pallets that are made of recycled products. This not only saves trees but saves you money because you can reuse the pallets.

There are a number of economical advantages to using recycled boxes when moving that include:

Buyback Guarantee: Some moving companies will offer clients a Buyback guarantee for their moving boxes. They will buy the moving boxes back after the customer has finished moving. The price can vary from full purchase price or a percentage of what the customer paid for the boxes.

Take a Box, Leave a Box: Some moving companies will provide a box drop-off location for companies and individuals so that new customers will be able to take the boxes for their own moving needs.

Moving Box Rentals: Use rentals if possible. Some companies will rent boxes and supplies to their customers. The boxes are usually a heavy plastic. Renting boxes eliminates waste.

There are other ways one can obtain recycled moving boxes. Check with supermarkets and other store managers to see if they have extra boxes. If you are unable to obtain used boxes, purchasing new boxes made from 100% recycled materials is a good choice. Boxes made from 100% recycled materials are just as strong as new boxes.

Everyday more people are doing their part to protect the environment. With millions of people moving each year, choosing recycled moving boxes has become a positive way to help protect the planet. It is good for the environment, community, and your wallet.
